Movicore operates this shop and website, including related information, content, features, tools, products and services, to provide you, the customer, with a curated shopping experience (the “Services”). Movicore is powered by Shopify, which enables us to provide the Services. This privacy policy describes how we collect, use and disclose your personal information when you visit, use, purchase or otherwise transact through the Services, or communicate with us. If our terms of service conflict with this policy, this policy controls in relation to the collection, processing and disclosure of personal information.
Please read this policy carefully. By using or accessing the Services, you acknowledge that you have read it and understand that information will be collected, used and disclosed as described.
Personal information we collect or process
“Personal information” means information that identifies or can reasonably be linked to you or another person. It does not include information collected anonymously or de-identified so that it cannot identify or reasonably be linked to you. Depending on your interaction with the Services, where you live and what applicable law permits or requires, we may collect or process the following categories, including inferences drawn from them:
- Contact details: name, address, billing and shipping addresses, telephone number and email address.
- Financial information: credit card, debit card and financial account numbers, payment card and financial account information, transaction details, payment methods, confirmations and other payment details.
- Account information: username, password, security questions, preferences and settings.
- Transaction information: items you view, put in your basket or wish list, purchase, return, exchange or cancel, and previous transactions.
- Communications: information included when you contact us, such as customer service enquiries.
- Device information: details about your device, browser or network connection, IP address and other unique identifiers.
- Usage information: how and when you interact with or navigate the Services.
Sources of personal information
We may collect information directly from you when you create an account, visit or use the Services, contact us or otherwise provide information; automatically through the Services, your device, cookies and similar technologies; from service providers that enable technology or collect or process information on our behalf; and from partners or other third parties.
How we use personal information
Depending on your interaction and the Services you use, we may use personal information for the following purposes:
- Providing, personalising and improving the Services: fulfilling our contract, processing payments and orders, remembering preferences and items of interest, sending account notifications, handling purchases, returns, exchanges and other transactions, creating and managing accounts, arranging shipping, enabling reviews, and tailoring the shopping experience, including related product recommendations. This may include using information to further personalise and improve the Services.
- Marketing and advertising: sending marketing, advertising and promotional communications by email, text message or post, and showing online adverts on the Services and other sites, including based on previous purchases, basket contents and other activity.
- Security and fraud prevention: authenticating accounts, enabling secure payments and purchases, detecting, investigating or responding to potentially fraudulent, illegal, unsafe or malicious activity, protecting public safety and safeguarding the Services. If you create an account, you are responsible for keeping login details secure. Do not share your username, password or other access details.
- Communicating with you: customer support, responses, effective service and managing our business relationship.
- Legal reasons: complying with law and valid legal processes, responding to law enforcement or government requests, investigating or participating in civil discovery, actual or potential litigation or other adverse proceedings, and enforcing or investigating possible breaches of our terms or policies.
How we disclose personal information
We may disclose information to third parties for legitimate purposes subject to this policy, including:
- Shopify, vendors and other service providers working for us, such as IT, payment processing, analytics, customer support, cloud storage, fulfilment and shipping providers.
- Business and marketing partners providing marketing and advertising. For example, we use Shopify to support personalised advertising with third-party services based on activity across merchants and websites. Partners use information under their own privacy notices. Depending on your residence, you may have the right to tell us not to share information for targeted advertising and marketing based on activity across merchants and websites.
- When you direct, request or consent to disclosure, such as for shipping or through social media widgets or login integrations.
- Affiliates or other members of our corporate group.
- In connection with a business transaction such as a merger or bankruptcy; to meet legal obligations, including subpoenas, search warrants and similar requests; to enforce applicable terms or policies; and to protect or defend the Services, our rights and the rights of users or third parties.
Our relationship with Shopify
Shopify hosts the Services and collects and processes personal information about your access and use to provide and improve them. Information submitted through the Services is transmitted to and shared with Shopify and third parties, which may be in countries other than your country of residence, for those purposes.
To protect, develop and improve our business, we use certain enhanced Shopify features that incorporate information from your interactions with our shop, other merchants and Shopify. Shopify may use personal information collected through those interactions to provide these features. In those circumstances, Shopify is responsible for processing your information and responding to rights requests concerning those uses.
For Shopify's use of information and relevant rights, see Shopify's Consumer Privacy Policy. Depending on where you live, you may exercise certain rights through the Shopify Privacy Portal.
Third-party websites and links
The Services may link to third-party websites or platforms. Review their privacy, security and other terms if they are not affiliated with or controlled by us. We do not guarantee or accept responsibility for their privacy, security or the accuracy, completeness or reliability of their information. Information shared publicly or semi-publicly, including through third-party social media, may be visible to other users without limits on its use by us or third parties. A link does not, by itself, endorse a platform, its content or its owners, except as expressly disclosed.
Children's data
The Services are not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children below the age of majority in your jurisdiction. A parent or guardian of a child who has provided information may contact us using the details below to request deletion. As of this policy's effective date, we have no actual knowledge that we “sell” or “share”, as those terms are defined by applicable law, information about anyone under 16.
Security and retention
No security measure is perfect or impenetrable, and we cannot guarantee perfect security. Information may not be secure in transit. Please do not send sensitive information through insecure channels.
Retention depends on factors such as whether information is needed to maintain an account, provide Services, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes or enforce applicable contracts and policies.
Your rights and choices
Depending on your residence, you may have some or all of these rights. They are not absolute, may apply only in certain circumstances, and requests may be refused where law permits:
- Access or knowledge: requesting access to information we hold about you.
- Deletion: requesting deletion of your information.
- Correction: requesting correction of inaccurate information.
- Portability: receiving a copy and requesting transfer to a third party in certain circumstances, with exceptions.
Communication preferences: you can unsubscribe from promotional emails using the unsubscribe option in them. We may still send non-promotional messages, such as account or order communications.
If you live in the UK or EEA, subject to local exceptions and limitations, you may also have the right to object to or restrict processing for particular purposes, and to withdraw consent where processing relies on it. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before withdrawal.
Exercise rights where indicated in the Services or contact us below. For rights concerning Shopify's processing, visit privacy.shopify.com/en.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising rights. We may need to verify your identity as permitted or required by law. You may appoint an authorised agent where applicable; we will request evidence of authority and may require you to verify your identity directly. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.
Complaints
Contact us below with concerns about processing. Depending on your residence, you may appeal our decision by contacting us or complain to your local data protection authority. For the EEA, see the list of supervisory authorities.
International transfers
We may transfer, store and process information outside your country. When transferring it outside the EEA or UK, we rely on recognised mechanisms such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent agreement issued by the relevant UK authority, as appropriate, unless the transfer is to a country recognised as providing adequate protection.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in practices or for operational, legal or regulatory reasons. We will publish the revised policy here, update the “Last updated” date and provide notices required by applicable law.
