Insoles for standing at work: choosing and checking the fit

Working in a shop, hospitality or moving between workstations? When choosing insoles for standing at work, begin with the shoes you actually wear through the day.

An insole should lie flat, leave room for the toes and feel comfortable when walking.

Start with your work shoes

Is the original insole removable? Can your toes move at the front? Is your heel held comfortably? A new insole takes up space and does not make an undersized shoe suitable.

Try the combination with your usual socks. You should be able to fasten the shoes normally without loosening the laces excessively or compressing the top of your foot. For safety footwear or shoes subject to specific workplace requirements, check the manufacturer's instructions before replacing components.

Features to compare

Cushioning and materials

Foam and gel appear in many models. Read the composition and examine the shape rather than relying only on marketing descriptions. How it feels also depends on the shoe and on how much of the day you stand still or walk.

Volume inside the shoe

More thickness means less available room. Check height at the front and the heel position. The most padded model is not necessarily the best match.

Arch position and size

On a preformed model, check where the raised area sits and how it feels when walking. Read the size and trimming instructions; models adjust in different ways.

Try them before a full working day

  1. Read the shoe and insole instructions.
  2. Fit the insoles flat, without creases or raised edges. Remove the originals only when replacement is intended.
  3. Check space around the toes and over the foot with the shoes fastened.
  4. Walk briefly and check for heel lift, insole movement or new pressure.

If trimming is needed, follow the marked lines and remove small amounts. Do not cut support areas. Our fitting and care guide explains these general checks.

Your working routine matters too

Where your role allows, vary your position and use breaks to change how you stand. Check shoe wear and dry insoles as directed. Comfort depends on the combination of shoes, floor, insoles and the way your day is organised.

IMPACT+ for everyday use

Movicore IMPACT+ combine PU foam and a gel surface with arch support. They are washable and trimmable, in EU sizes 35–48. For localised forefoot cushioning, compare their format with silicone pads with toe separators.

Common questions

Can I place them over the originals?

Not automatically: stacking can leave too little room. Follow the instructions for both products.

Are they suitable for every type of pain?

A product description cannot select a treatment. Seek individual assessment for persistent or worsening pain.
