Before using new insoles in a padel match, take a few minutes to check their shape and the room left inside your shoes. A flat fit and appropriate care are part of getting the basics right.

The essential check: the insole should lie flat and your foot should still have enough room.

This guide covers fitting and care. For a comparison of features, read how to choose insoles for padel.

Read the instructions before fitting

Check both the insole and shoe instructions. Some models can be trimmed, while others cannot. Shapes and thicknesses vary. If the original insole is glued in, do not pull it out without checking with the shoe manufacturer.

Check the size and permitted trimming area

On a trimmable model, the marked lines identify where adjustment is allowed. A removable original insole can help you compare outlines, but it does not replace a fit check inside the shoe.

  1. Identify the left and right insoles.
  2. Check the size you received.
  3. If trimming is needed, follow the instructions and remove small amounts at a time.
  4. Check the fit after each cut.

Do not cut the arch support or areas not intended for trimming.

Place the insoles inside the shoes

When the model is intended to replace a removable original insole, take the original out. Slide the new one fully into place and check that the heel is seated properly. It should lie flat, without a folded front or raised edges.

Put your shoes on. Your toes should have room, with no new pressure over the top of your foot.

Try them before stepping onto court

Walk and make gentle movements in a safe place. If the insole slides, folds or makes the shoe tight, check the fit before a full session. Stop if it causes pain or new discomfort rather than forcing yourself to adapt.

Cleaning and drying

Follow the model's instructions: “washable” does not automatically mean suitable for a washing machine, hot water or a tumble dryer. Dry as directed before putting the insoles back. Remove sand and small debris from inside your shoes too.

Check for wear

There is no replacement interval that suits everyone. Use, materials, care and footwear all matter. Look for tears, lasting deformation, separating layers or a clear change in fit. Persistent foot pain needs individual advice and is not, on its own, proof that an insole is worn out.
